7. Cook homemade as much as you can. Prepared food is always more expensive than cooking from scratch. Pull out grandma’s old recipes or look for simple recipes online.

8. Use what you have! Check your cupboards and fridge for anything you can use without having to spend more money.

9. Try a different main protein. Turkey tends to be the most expensive part of a holiday meal, and while traditionally served at Thanksgiving, having a cheaper substitute can be just as satisfying.  Think roasted chicken, ham roast, pulled pork as options.

10.Ask others to bring a dish or drink to pass around. You do not need to do it all yourself.
