Purpose & Passion: Ambition

By Colin Butler, MS, CSCS, ACSM-GEI, EIM and CF Warrior
CF might change the pace, but it doesn’t mean giving up on your dreams. You can still pursue growth, education, entrepreneurship, or leadership. The key is doing it your way.

Ask yourself:

  • What do I want work to bring into my life, purpose, income, structure, connection?
  • What kind of environment helps me feel my best?
  • What am I not willing to compromise on when it comes to my health or values?

Maybe that means taking a course at your own speed or building a portfolio for freelance work over a few months or gradually moving from a physically demanding job to something more flexible. Whatever your path looks like, it’s valid.

And don’t forget: rest is productive too. It’s not a detour, it’s part of the journey.

Living with CF may change how you work, but it doesn’t erase your ambition, your creativity, or your right to do work that matters. With the right mix of planning, support, and self-awareness, you can build a career that fits your life!

Your path might have detours or pauses. You might need to redefine success from time to time. But make no mistake, there is a path. And it’s yours. So whether you’re just starting out, coming back after a break, or dreaming up something brand new, remember this:

You’re not limited by CF.
You’re empowered by your resilience.
And that, more than anything, is the foundation of meaningful work.
